Do you know how fastly data is transfer from one place to another?
We use optical fiber for it.
Optical fiber is a thin glass or plastic cable.It is as thin as our hair.
It transfer lots of data at high speed.It uses worlds fastest thing light to transfer data.
If we incident light on glass it is either reflected or refracted.
If we incident light at particular critical angle it will totally reflected is called total internal reflection.We use this total internal reflection phenomenon in fiber optics.
Fiber optics has two types single and multi mode fiber.
In single mode only single signal is pass at time for long distance.
In multi mode many signal can pass to short distance.
Optical fiber is made of two parts inner core and outer cladding.Core has refractive index more than the cladding.Light passes through the core in fiber optics by phenomenon of total internal reflection.
Optical fiber is use in internet and surgery.
It is more faster than traditional copper wire also it is not affected by electromagnetic waves.
Optical fiber advantage is it is small and fast medium of transfer of information.It is also hack proof so use by military.
Fiber optics disadvantages is it is costly and delicate.
